Best Hair Loss Surgery

Over time there have been many variations and techniques on how to remove hair from the hair transplant donor area and then place it back over the top of the scalp, or the recipient area; some methods have proven to better than others

Although many methods have proven to not be in the best interests of the patient some are still being performed and it is important when researching that to understand how the technique will impact short and long term not just on the result but the long term well-being of the individual

Scalp Reduction, Flap Surgery, Punch grafting, Mini-grafting are all techniques that have been used in the past but now no ethical clinic with the individuals best interest in mind would consider as viable solutions to hair restoration

Scalp reductions and Flap surgery are both aggressive forms of hair transplant surgery; they inevitably leave bad scarring, a low yield of graft survival and an unnatural pattern of hair growth

Punch grafting and mini grafting can leave excessive scarring in the donor area and an unnatural growth pattern in the recipient area; the size of the grafts containing so many hairs unnaturally bunched together never resembled the natural growth of hair

Today the use of these techniques has largely died but when researching a doctor or clinic it is advisable to always confirm what hair restoration techniques they use, how long they have used them and confirm with patient results

The two recognised techniques in use today are both the transfer of natural, intact follicular units from the donor area around the back and sides of the head; the method of harvesting or removing the FU´s does differ between the two techniques

Follicular Unit Transplant and Follicular Unit Extraction, FUT and FUE respectively; the techniques can be combined within one procedure to enhance the grafts numbers that can be achieved, especially useful on high Norwood scale hair loss sufferers

Used individually each techniques can offer the right candidate a solution to hair loss and provide natural results that can be undetectable to the naked eye, mimicking the natural growth pattern of the native hair

With developments in these techniques, combined with medical and artistic ability the follicular units can be intelligently distributed over the surface area to give the appearance of natural hair density from hair line to crown if required

The only negative is that not every individual makes a suitable hair transplant candidate; the limitations can be the goals of the individual not being able to be achieved with the hair resources available

Donor hair quality will vary from person to person and before deciding to undergo surgical hair restoration always ensure that the resources available allow not just for short term restoration but can meet the demands as and when hair loss progresses
