Get Ready For Your Hair Transplant Day

A hair transplant is a minor surgical procedure; although minor there are precautions as a patient that can be taken to help the day run smoothly and efficiently.

Preparing For Your Hair Transplant Pre And Post Op

Preparing For Your Hair Transplant Pre And Post Op

  • If travelling arrive at your Clinic city the day before your procedure to avoid any delays and time for you to relax

  • Decide on a hair style/cut that allows you to cover the donor and or recipient area, discuss with your doctor maybe a month before

  • Wash your hair the evening before or the morning of your procedure; do not use any concealer or fixing sprays in your hair

  • Wear comfortable clothes, a button down shirt that can easily be removed and nothing that has to be removed over your head

  • Have plenty of still water to hand for after your hair transplant as slight dehydration can occur

  • Inform your doctor of any medications you take at least 2 weeks prior to your surgery date

  • Refrain from any anti-inflammatory medications ideally for 7-10 days pre operation

  • Refrain from alcohol beverages for a week before the day

  • Vitamins such as vitamin B, or vitamin E supplements should be stopped a week prior to the day

  • Smoking reduces blood flow and should be stopped or greatly reduced a week before and certainly not on the day of surgery or the week post operation

  • Caffeinated and carbonated drinks should not be consumed the day before and for a few days post operation

  • Ensure when home you are stocked up with provisions as you may not wish to go out much in the first week post operation

This is not an exhaustive list and it is common that your Clinic will give you pre operation instructions and it is important to follow for your own well-being
