Medical and Artistic Hair Transplant Abilities

All hair transplants are different, different facial features and different hair characteristics and when researching it is always beneficial to look for results that have similar characteristics to yourself; this will help to understand how a hair transplant is created and what can be achieved

The quality of the doctor´s team is vital to the result of a hair transplant; trained in-house with years of experience can make the difference between a good and great hair transplant

A hair transplant is a mix of abilities, medical and artistic skills to create a result that is undetectable to an individual’s own natural hair growing. A hair transplant may be performed to a high medical standard but if not combined with artistic skills a result may not look natural

Our face is not even or symmetrical on either side, slight changes in the bone structure will make the hair line design slightly different but when fully grown out look perfectly natural; combined with the medical abilities undetectable from a natural growing hair line

Designing a hair line too high, too low will draw unwanted attention to the area and although the hair placement may be to a medically high standard the grown out result will not be undetectable

Medical skills are required in the harvesting of the hair from the donor area, be it FUT or FUE, the instruments used and the understanding of the skin physiology;

FUE requires a great understanding of anatomy as the extraction process is a blind technique and without the necessary knowledge follicular unit transection can increase, residual scarring in the area become more visible and the growth of hair impaired; how deep an incision is made to allow for the graft to be removed whilst creating minimum trauma to the skin and allow for optimum healing

In the case of FUT closing the donor area, using wither staples or sutures and creating a neat line that heals to leave a fine line that allows hair to regrow through the line to help camouflage further

When making the recipient slits the angle and orientation will determine the coverage achieved by each hair and how natural the hair growth appears; hair line placement and design is less medical ability and more art, understanding facial bone structure

The slits need to be made close enough together to create enough density but not too close or aggressive that it may impair the skin quality healing or the yield achieved when the hair regrows. The medical ability to perform these tasks will play a large impact on the healing, scarring and yield that is achieved; and cross over to the artistic ability of the doctor to create a hair transplant that looks natural
