Hiding A Hair Transplant

Probably something almost every candidate is concerned about is people´s reaction; many times and with surprise no one comments. Dependent on your lifestyle it can be easier to hide than others, creative hair styling, wearing a hat of some kind.

Plan your hair restoration well, choose the timing when it best suits your hair loss state, and utilising the donor area to the best. Ensure you research well, follow the instructions given to you by the clinic

Immediately post operation, dependent on the technique used the donor area will either be shaved or some degree of hair length remaining

The recipient area, where the grafts are placed, dependent on the size of the procedure, but you will have potentially 1000´s of tiny slit made for the grafts to be placed into; this will obviously create some scabbing as they are open wounds and the skin will appear red with a thin crust

FUE requires the donor to be shaved to calculate the exit angle of the follicular units so the punch can enter the skin without transecting the FU. FUT only the actual hair bearing strip needs to be shaved and then when sutured the hair surrounding covers the area

Often, especially on larger procedures any hair in the recipient will need to be shaved; this is to allow for the best density to be placed, cover any miniaturised hairs and helps the overall efficiency of the procedure, ensuring the grafts remain out of the skin for the minimum period of time

Over the first couple of weeks the crust removes with washing and over a few months the skin pigmentation returns to normal, for some this can be much faster if they have good skin healing properties, and treatments can be used to help speed along nature

As the hair starts to grow over the preceding year you will have more coverage and density, especially on high NW cases that could achieve total restoration from hair line to crown; so it probably unrealistic for friends, family, and work colleagues not to be aware

Ideally rest for the first 2 weeks post operation, no heavy lifting or physical exercise; planning the timing of your hair transplant can greatly help if you do not put strict time lines on your lifestyle
